What is gold plating?

Gold plating is an electrochemical process that deposits a thin layer of gold onto a metal surface. The item is cleaned, prepared with a base coat (copper, nickel, or palladium), then submerged in a gold solution where an electrical current bonds the gold to the surface.

How thick is the gold plating?

We offer four thickness options measured in microns (µm): Flash (0.05–0.1µm) for decorative use, Standard (0.5–1.0µm) for everyday wear, Gold Vermeil (2.5µm minimum) for sterling silver pieces, and Heavy (5–10µm) for maximum durability on watches and fine jewellery.

What gold types do you offer?

We offer 9ct Yellow Gold (37.5% pure), 18ct Yellow Gold (75% pure), and Rhodium plating for a bright white platinum-like finish. All options are available across our four thickness levels.

Do you offer polishing services?

Yes. We offer professional watch polishing (cases, bezels, bracelets, and links) and jewellery polishing (rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings) as standalone services or as part of a re-plating package. Polishing removes scratches, tarnish, and oxidation before a new gold layer is applied.
