Expert gold plating for fine jewellery — re-plating faded pieces, upgrading silver to gold, or achieving a fresh finish on new designs.
Fine jewellery gold plating is a precision service that requires careful handling, appropriate thickness selection, and a thorough understanding of the base metal and intended wear pattern. Whether you are a jeweller, designer, or individual client, we deliver consistent, high-quality results on rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and pendants.
Gold plating is one of the most common finishing processes in fine jewellery. It allows sterling silver, brass, and other base metals to achieve the look and feel of solid gold at a fraction of the cost. It is also used to refresh the finish on solid gold jewellery that has worn or faded over time.
The most important decision for fine jewellery is thickness. Rings and bracelets that are worn daily experience significant friction and require Heavy plating (5–10 µm) for acceptable longevity. Earrings, pendants, and necklaces that do not contact hard surfaces regularly can be plated at Standard (0.5–1.0 µm) with excellent results.
For sterling silver jewellery, we offer Gold Vermeil plating — a minimum 2.5 µm gold layer over sterling silver that meets the international vermeil standard. This is the preferred option for fine jewellery designers and retailers who want to offer a premium, durable gold finish with genuine precious metal content.
We work with jewellers, designers, and individual clients across Australia. Whether you have a single heirloom piece to re-plate or a wholesale order of 500 units, our process and quality standards are the same. Contact us with your requirements for a detailed quote.
What We Plate
How It Works
Send us photos and details of your pieces — base metal, current condition, and desired finish. We provide a quote based on item type, quantity, and plating thickness.
Ship your jewellery to our Sydney workshop. We recommend insured registered post for valuable pieces. We provide a receipt and condition report on arrival.
Existing plating or tarnish is removed. Each piece is ultrasonically cleaned and electrolytically degreased to ensure a perfectly clean surface for adhesion.
A copper or nickel undercoat is applied to create a smooth, even surface and improve gold adhesion. For sterling silver, we may apply a palladium strike to prevent silver migration.
Gold is deposited to your specified thickness. We offer 9ct and 18ct yellow gold tones, rose gold, and rhodium. Thickness is controlled precisely for consistent results.
Each piece is inspected for coverage, adhesion, and finish quality before being carefully packaged and returned to you with full tracking.
